A kick-off meeting initiating the activities of the international project entitled "Green & sustainable public spaces in historic cities - innovative teaching programme" implemented under the Erasmus + program, was held at Lublin University of Technology.
LUT, the leader of the project, hosted scientific partners from Politecnico di Milano (Italy) and Universidad de Granada (Spain). Together with the historic cities of Zamość, Cordoba and Ravenna, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the Department of Monument Conservation will develop a contemporary methodology for the modernization of historic public spaces in the context of adaptation to climate change and the implementation of solutions to improve their functioning and greening.
During the three-year project, generally available substantive and training aids will be created, dedicated to the education of students in the fields of architecture, monument protection, landscape architecture, construction, as well as materials addressed to employees of historic city offices.
However, the key project activity will be the creation of educational classes in the form of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), devoted to the adaptation of historic public spaces to climate change. The course will be based on active and interactive teaching in the form of the entire educational process enriched with educational materials, quizzes, analyses of individual cases as well as tests to check the acquired knowledge. The total budget of the project is 250,000 Euros.
